Satyabhama was one of the principal queens of Krishna. She was the daughter of Satrajit and was known for her beauty, courage, generosity, and strong personality. Although she deeply loved Krishna, she was also proud and often wished to prove the greatness of her love.
One day, the sage Narada visited the royal palace. Seeing Satyabhama's affection for Krishna, Narada decided to teach her an important lesson. He suggested that she perform a sacred vow and, according to the custom, donate Krishna to a sage and then redeem him by offering gold equal to his weight.
Confident in her immense wealth, Satyabhama agreed. She placed Krishna on one side of a great balance and piled mountains of gold, jewels, and precious ornaments on the other side. But no matter how much treasure she added, the scale carrying Krishna would not rise.
Satyabhama became worried and humiliated. At that moment, Rukmini arrived. Understanding the situation, she offered a single Tulasi (holy basil) leaf with complete devotion and love. To everyone's amazement, the balance immediately became equal.
Narada smiled, for his purpose had been fulfilled. He explained that sincere devotion and pure love outweigh all the riches in the world. Satyabhama realized that true love is not measured by wealth or pride but by humility and devotion.
Far from being cruel, Narada's playful scheme helped Satyabhama discover a deeper truth. Her love for Krishna was genuine and golden-hearted, but she learned that love shines brightest when it is free from pride.
From then on, Satyabhama's devotion became even more profound, and the story of Satyabhama Tulabharam has been remembered as a beautiful lesson that the value of love lies not in possessions, but in the purity of the heart.
