When I think about money, I want to share some real stories
During COVID, my cousin’s father was extremely wealthy assets worth around 70 crores. Yet, when my cousin contracted COVID, they spent unimaginable amounts in multiple hospitals. And still… they couldn’t save him. He passed away. That moment hit me like a storm. Money cannot buy life. No matter how rich you are, no matter how much you spend, you cannot hold someone’s life in your hands. I wondered why do people fight and hurt each other over money, when in the end, it cannot save a life?
Another story haunts me even more. A friend’s two-year-old child was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The doctors said the operation would cost 30 lakhs and gave the family only 24 hours to proceed. The chance of survival? Just 1%. The family couldn’t even arrange 1 lakh at that stage. Collecting the full 30 lakhs would have taken at least a month. Meanwhile, the child… passed away in the hospital. At that moment, I realized something terrifying: if we ever want to save a life, we need to have money ready in our hands. Otherwise, the helplessness is unbearable, and the pain stays with you forever.
Even now, every day, I see families fighting to save their children. Recently, I saw a reel about a girl named Punrvika, whose critical operation requires 66 crores in donations. Some children need multiple surgeries, and their families are desperate, collecting money to save just one life. Watching this… it’s overwhelming. Even with money, life remains uncertain. Even with everything, sometimes you still cannot save them.
Thinking about all this, I ask myself why am I alive if I cannot save a life? What is the point of living if I cannot make even a small difference? Even if I cannot arrange everything myself, I can at least share the story, raise awareness, and help collect contributions. That is the most I can do.
My belief is this money should not just be earned for yourself but to give someone a fighting chance at life. Yet, the harsh truth is clear: money may give a chance, but it can never guarantee life.
