Riddle: “The King’s Last Question”

Long ago, in a vast and golden kingdom, there ruled a powerful king named Elion.

He conquered lands, commanded armies, built cities, and wrote laws that lasted centuries. Yet in his final years, he grew quiet — not weak, but weary.

One morning, the king summoned his three children: brave Prince Kael, wise Princess Sera, and clever Prince Dain.

He said:

“I’ve built a kingdom with iron and fire, but I am not at peace.
I have ruled thousands, yet I die with only questions.

After I pass, the crown shall go not to the strongest, nor the smartest, but to the one who answers me this:

‘What does a king lose the moment he tries to keep it?’”

They had until sunrise.

That night, Kael sharpened his sword and vowed it was power.
Sera opened scrolls and whispered, “It must be time.”
Dain sat in silence, staring at the stars.

In the morning, each came forward.

Kael said, “You lose your enemies, for power demands them.”
Sera said, “You lose time, for the more you cling, the faster it fades.”

But Dain simply walked up, bowed, and said one word.

The king smiled.

He stood, removed his crown, and placed it on Dain’s head.

Then he died, peacefully.

Question:

What did Dain say — what is the one thing a king loses the moment he tries to keep it?

Answer...? Do u want any hint..?
