I've watched Avatar: The Last Airbender more than twice, mostly because of one character—Zuko. The storytelling is so brilliant that every time I watch it, I feel completely transported into that world. Sometimes I even wonder if a story like this could have existed in ancient China, since so much of its philosophy, martial arts, and elemental concepts seem inspired by ancient Chinese traditions and texts.
No matter how many times I rewatch it, I never get bored, even though I know exactly what's going to happen next. I love the martial arts, the way bending is portrayed through the natural elements, and the depth every character carries. It's still my favorite show, and Zuko has always been my favorite character.
Somehow, years later, I met someone who reminded me so much of him. The first time i saw him he was walking through the corridoes in school , he knew I was drawn to him, but I don't think he ever realized why. This was exactly what was going through my mind. I would like to express like that but I feel i quite identified my soul mate that time . I wasnt attracted to the looks okay ! I felt a strong connection.
What's even more beautiful is a memory that unfolded without either of us realizing it at the time. He would throw little tantrums, argue with me, and sulk in a way that reminded me so much of Zuko's dynamic with Aang. For the record, we were much more like Zuko and Aang than Zuko and Katara.
It wasn't just his personality. His face, his aesthetic, his quiet romantic side, and especially his temper reminded me so much of Zuko. His anger was like fire—intense, expressive, and impossible to ignore. Sometimes he'd wear every emotion on his face without saying a word. I could read him, understand what was going through his mind, infact i have seen him wearing his real potential complete brain but I was too silly back then to respond the way I should have.
Looking back, it makes me smile. I had the biggest childhood crush on a fictional character, and somehow, life introduced me to someone who felt like that character had stepped into the real world. To me, what could be a more magical, fairy-tale ending than meeting your childhood fictional crush in real life?
Still crushing over zuko .
