Favoured Frenzy
The street is full,
a river of faces I do not know.
They laugh, they live,
they move past me
like I’m not even there.
She used to smile in crowds like this.
Not loudly—just enough
to change the color of the world.
Now I look for that light
in every passing stranger,
hoping I’ve missed her
by only a moment.
I listen for her name
in the way people speak to each other,
in the hush between footsteps,
in the echo of memories
that still call her mine.
But the city never stops.
It keeps breathing,
keeps forgetting.
And I keep searching—
half a soul
in a room full of noise.
a river of faces I do not know.
They laugh, they live,
they move past me
like I’m not even there.
She used to smile in crowds like this.
Not loudly—just enough
to change the color of the world.
Now I look for that light
in every passing stranger,
hoping I’ve missed her
by only a moment.

in the way people speak to each other,
in the hush between footsteps,
in the echo of memories
that still call her mine.

And I keep searching—

in a room full of noise.
