Never regret being a good person to the wrong people. Your behaviour says everything about you, and their behaviour says enough about them.
Imagine waking up at 3 due to the excruciating pain inflicted by a broken finger and can't talk to anybody because everyone is slumbering is a different kind of pain. Now, anyone awake? Wakey Wakey!!
