Every Year, 16 July is celebrated as World Snake Day worldwide.
The aim of the day is to create awareness about different species of snakes.
In human eyes, snakes have a negative role, and people consider them as some of the biggest enemies in animals.
That’s why most people, kill snakes just after seeing them.
But, we all should know, that snakes play a great role in balancing our environment.
Cutting of forests, and Climate Change are some of the factors responsible for the decline in habitats of snakes.
It’s our responsibility to take efforts to preserve them.
This is also the motive behind celebrating this day.
As snakes eat various small animals like – rodents, rabbits, birds etc, they help to balance the environment.
And if they will not be here, then it will have a big impact indirectly on us.
More than 300 species of snakes are found in India, out of which only about 50 species are poisonous.
