It was now September 28th and the police had no leads or clues to the murderer's identity , as Inspector Abberline walked around Trafalgar Square he heard a boy selling newspapers. "I'll have a newspaper" said the Inspector and handed the boy some money , a few moments later the Inspector stood beside the statue of legendary naval officer Lord Nelson and began to read the newspaper.
As he read through the newspaper he saw the main article , it said "letter arrived at press office , Whitechapel murderer named!". The Inspector continued to read through the article ,"so they're calling him Jack The Ripper now" said the Inspector and sighed a little , he finished reading the article and decided to call a friend , after he arrived back at police headquarters at Scotland Yard he made a telephone call.
"Hello it's me Inspector Abberline , I need you to meet me in Whitechapel" he said , later that day around five o'clock in the afternoon the Inspector's friend had arrived at Whitechapel train station. "Good afternoon Inspector" said Lucy as they began to walk through the streets towards the scene of the first murder , a short time later they had arrived at the alley where Mary was murdered.
"Keep an eye out for anything suspicious Inspector" said Lucy as she started to investigate the crime scene , "hmm the Inspector was right , the killer left no traces here" thought Lucy. A few minutes later Lucy asked the Inspector to take her to the second crime scene , they walked onwards through the streets of Whitechapel towards the place where Annie was murdered.
Several minutes later...
Lucy and the Inspector had arrived where the second murder had happened and looked around , "hmm , Inspector I found something" said Lucy. "What did you find?" Asked the Inspector , "it appears to be a piece of material , I found it stuck in this small bush" said Lucy , "ah how did I miss it!" Said the Inspector as he placed his hand in his palm and then sighed.
"I shall have my men examine the piece of material" said Inspector Abberline as Lucy handed it to him , "oh Inspector one thing , I believe this murderer Jack The Ripper will strike again soon" said Lucy. "Hmm yes it has been a few weeks since Annie was murdered" said the Inspector as he adjusted his hat , "I suggest you increase police presence in Whitechapel until further notice" said Lucy.
"I will do that immediately" said the Inspector as he walked towards a horse carriage , a moment later the Inspector rode the carriage back to police headquarters as Lucy walked to her brother's home. Seven minutes later Lucy had arrived at her brother William's house and asked if she could stay for a while , "yes of course you can stay here Lucy" said William as he let her inside.
