Epic Legend
Odysseus , Athena and Telemachus had arrived at the palace , Odysseus saw the scroungers laying around eating, drinking and demanding the servants to bring them the finest things. Odysseus restrained himself from killing them all instantly , moments later he saw his beautiful wife Penelope , she looked a little older but he still thought to himself that she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen , he wanted to run up to her and kiss her , Odysseus took a deep breath and thought to himself , "I must get rid of these scroungers first.
Penelope saw Odysseus but did not recognise himas he was still disguised as an old beggar , Penelope instructed her maid to take care of him , moments later her maid took Odysseus to another room and brought him a bucket of hot water for his feet. Odysseus put his feet in the water to soak then moments later the maid saw a scar on his knee and said "my king had a scar like that" , "shhh , it's me king Odysseus , everything will be revealed soon , don't ruin my surprise" he whispered to her.
Later that morning Odysseus walked back into the hall , moments later Penelope walked into the room with her servants behind her carrying some axes. The servants placed the axes in line as Penelope held Odysseus's bow , "it's been long enough , I think Odysseus is dead , I will marry any man who can string Odysseus's bow and fire an arrow through the line of axes" said Penelope , the scroungers stood in line as they queued to try her challenge.
All of the scroungers failed Penelope's challenge , then suddenly Odysseus stepped forward , "I accept your challenge" he said , the scroungers yelled insults as Odysseus picked up his bow. Penelope ordered the scroungers to be silent , Odysseus bent his bow and attached the string and grabbed an arrow , he aimed at the line of axes and then fired the arrow , the arrow f,Ew the air straight through the line of axes , "who are you...there's something familiar about you" said Penelope in disbelief.
Moments later he said "I am king Odysseus , I'm here to reclaim my kingdom!" , the scroungers shouted and roared then drew their weapons , Odysseus's son Telemachus grabbed a spear and stood by his side. The scroungers started to attack them , their attacks missed and Odysseus began to fire arrows , Odysseus fired a barrage of arrows killing the scroungers one by one as Athena stood amongst the shadows using her powers to make the scroungers attacks miss him.
Odysseus had killed all of the scroungers and moments later Athena stood beside him , Athena pressed her fingertip against Odysseus's forehead and his disguise faded away. Penelope lookout him in shock and said , "you do look like my husband but you looked like an old man just moments ago , however you passed the challenge and I will marry you tomorrow" , Penelope stood in front of Odysseus and secretly decided to set him another challenge.
"I'll have my marriage bed brought down so you can sleep in luxury tonight" said Penelope , Odysseus frowned and said "you can't do that , it's carved out of a living tree it can't be moved from our bedroom". Suddenly Penelope burst into tears of happiness and said "Odysseus it really is you" , she wrapped her arms around him and held him tight , "my clever queen , you were testing me weren't you" said Odysseus as he smiled at her , "yes my love , I finally have you back at last after all these years" said Penelope , "home at last" sighed Odysseus as he smiled and held his queen close and watched as his son Telemachus smiled.
Athena stood amongst the shadows and watched as Odysseus was finally reunited with his beloved wife Penelope and his son Telemachus and moments later she smiled and then faded deeper into the shadows and returned to Mount Olympus.
