Epic Legend
Odysseus and his crew sailed onwards towards their next destination as the clouds became darker , Odysseus held onto the ships mast as he remembered the warnings that Circe had told him about. Rain started to fall hard and fast as the wind grew a little stronger , suddenly Odysseus and his crew could hear the faint sound of singing somewhere ahead of them , "oh no , the siren's" Odysseus ordered his crew to tie him to the mast so he could hear the siren's singing.
Odysseus's crew quickly tied him to the mast as he ordered them to put wax in their ears to protect them from the siren's singing , the crew followed his orders and put wax in their ears and then continued to sail onwards. A matter of minutes later the siren's appeared , Odysseus heard their beautiful singing and and became enchanted , he begged and pleaded his crewmen to untie him so he could go to the sirens but they couldn't hear him.
Odysseus began to lose his mind and grew more and more desperate as the siren's tried to lure him and his crew towards their doom , suddenly thunder began to rumble and lightning flashed amongst the dark clouds as the waves became stronger. The waves crashed against the ship as they sailed onwards past the siren's , the singing had gone as they had finally escaped from the siren's and the crew untied Odysseus and removed the wax from their ears , later that day the storm had calmed down a little.
They saw a rocky passage ahead of them and sailed towards it , they sailed into the entrance of the rocky passage but more danger was waiting for them. On one side of the rocky passage a sea monster called Charybdis created a whirlpool , the whirlpool spun around faster and faster and grew stronger as the storm started to grow stronger again , "keep us away from that whirlpool" shouted Odysseus , his crew rowed as hard as they could as the whirlpool tried to pull them in.
Lightning struck the rocks beside the whirlpool and shattered them , the rocks fell into the water around the ship as Odysseus and his crew sailed ahead. A short time later Odysseus and his crew had escaped Charybdis and the whirlpool but the danger was not over , on the other side of the rocky passage ahead of them was a cave where another creature lived , the creature was called Scylla... , Scylla's six heads lunged forward towards Odysseus's ship.
Scylla tried to eat Odysseus and his crew alive as the storm became stronger , the waves smashed against the rocks as Scylla continued to attack him and his crew. "Aahh" screamed Odysseus's crew as Scylla's six heads grabbed some of Odysseus's men , "keep rowing men!" Shouted Odysseus as Scylla chewed on the dead crewmen , Odysseus and his men had finally escaped from Scylla and the left the rocky passage behind them , they were safe at least for now.
They sailed onwards for two days as the storm continued to rage , on the third day the storm had finally stopped as nightfall approached , Odysseus and his crew spotted an island ahead of them. They anchored the ship and walked ashore , they decided to camp there for the night and then they saw a herd of golden skinned cattle , Odysseus thought to himself "these golden cattle must belong to Helios the sun god" , Odysseus gathered his crew and reminded them about Circe's warning.
"Whatever you do , do not touch those cattle , don't even look at them" said Odysseus in a strong stern tone of voice , Odysseus and his men looked around the island for food but found nothing , Odysseus's men obeyed his commands to avoid the cattle but food supplies started to become low. Nightfall had finally arrived , the moonlight shone bright over the island as Odysseus and his crew layed around the campfire and quickly fell asleep.
The next morning... Odysseus started to awaken , he breathed the fresh air in and suddenly he could smell roasting meat , he looked around and saw his men roasting meat. "Where did that meat come from...? "asked Odysseus , his crew were silent and avoided his gaze , "you fools!! , I warned you not to touch those golden cattle" shouted Odysseus , minutes later he ordered his crew to go back to the ship , Odysseus and his men sailed away from the island as fast as they could.
As they sailed away from the island , Odysseus and his crew jumped a little as a voice boomed out from the clouds , "HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY GOLDEN CATTLE!!" , "it's Helios the sun god" said Odysseus as his men started to panic and rowed faster as they tried to escape , Helios unleashed his almighty powers and fired a blast of energy towards their ship , "BOOM".... the ship shattered into pieces , Helios's energy blast killed Odysseus's entire crew , moments later Helios had vanished and Odysseus clinged onto a piece of wood as he drifted across the sea...
