Chapter 2, Impatience

“Fajro!” Nekonata muttered, clearing his mind he made the fireball turn into a square, slowly and with difficulty he turned the fire-square into a triangle. Without thinking he started to contort the fire-triangle into something bigger, after several moments it contorted into a small full-sized pony. Nekosmiled, the pony got bigger and bigger and bigger until it started to resemble a full-sized horse.

As he admired what he’d achieved it was then he noticed someone banging on his door, breaking his concentration he realised his bedroom rug was on fire.

Nekonata raised his hand “Akvo!” A purple ball of water appeared in his hand and he threw it at the rug putting out the fire.

His bedroom door burst open and Vivi stormed into the room “Are you ok? What happened?”

“An accident..” Nekonata replied, shoulder barging past Vivi and other people he didn’t recognise. Walking out and into the courtyard he saw Kristolia and Santaya playing with each other, he whistled and they both ran to his side.

“Neko!” Vivi called him, “Neko!” He turned back to the people he was with, “I’m sorry about that, he’s having a difficult time with the frustration of not having his memories at the moment.”

“I might be able to help him with that, I’ve been practicing with hypnosis and it’s had positive effects.” A small voice with a northern accent commented.

“Amelia, you’ve been practicing with hypnosis, that’s a very elven concept for a dwarf to be practicing.” Vivi commented looking at the small lady with dark brown hair, brown eyes and pale complexion.

“Humarf, my dear,” She corrected with a soft smile.

“Ah my apologies, for now let’s give the boy some space.” Everyone nodded in agreement. A small hummingbird flew in front of Vivi’s face, it’s wings beating so fast they nothing but a blur.

“Yes, yes… ok… Elvish ancestry?” Vivi nodded a few more times, while the guests looked at him puzzled.

“He’s talking to a bird?” One of them whispered.

“Vivi here is very adept at talking to animals, like a whole unexpected messenger service.” Amelia told them.

The hummingbird flew away, Vivi looked out of a window deep in thought for a moment, he heard someone clear their throat behind him, “Oh, my apologies, shall we get something to eat?”

Neko walked, not caring where his legs took him. The Ingmar killing Kimbo, his memory not being altogether and the fact he couldn’t remember people who had an important role in his life when he was younger was starting to frustrate him. He could hear this voice in his head, “Frustration can lead to anger, and anger to hate. You must learn to stay calm.” He had no idea whose voice it was but it was starting to grate on him.

“FAJRO!” A fireball erupted from the palm of his hand with such force he threw it as hard as he could. The fireball hit a group of oak trees on the edge of the forest, and the trees exploded.

Nekonata breathing heavily slowly walked up to the trees to assess the damage he’d made. There was nothing left of the trees but roots that were still smouldering. Nekonata sighed and walked away.

He heard the beat of huge wings, and stopped to see the great pearl white dragon Elqiana landing a few feet away from him. She looked at him with her large white eye, and he nodded.

“Well met, Elqiana.” He said bowing, a voice started to gently probe his mind seeking entry. “Is that you trying to mind-connect with me Elqiana?”

The dragon nodded her subtly, and he let her in his mind. ‘Your frustration, is strong enough to set the world on fire young one’

“My apologies if I disturbed your rest Elqiana. Am I wrong to be frustrated like this?”

‘Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.’ Elqiana replied.

Neko looked at her puzzled, and sighed. “I suppose you’re right. How is Tarasque doing?”

‘Tarasque is training, and is not enjoying it at all’

“Jason and Patrick?” It was a silly question, he already knew the answer. “All though I can’t remember it, it seems that they both trained me, respectively.”

‘There is a woman, in the city, who claims she might be able to help you, something about hypnosis.’

Neko slumped against the trunk of a willow tree, Elqiana lay down to the side of it a few feet way, just then Tabby the werecat appeared from behind the tree, she jumped on to Elqiana’s paw, then knee and on to the dragons weaving in and out of the spinal spikes before resting on top of her head.

“Miaow… No name and Dragon Kind sitting by a tree, up to mischief and mutterings they be!”

“Bloody hell, it’s a talking cat!” Neko exclaimed, Elqiana let out a snort and grumble, depicted as some sort of laugh.

“My name is Tabby, I’m a werecat I’ll have you know!” The fur ball said matter of factly.

“You will get your memory back, that I know for sure, the prophecy of you’re being says so, you will remember No Name.” Tabby commented

“But will I remember my name?” Neko asked, looking down at the floor.

‘What is but a name, when one’s actions are that of which define them, do you not already have a name? That of Ingmar Slayer?’ Elqiana pointed out.

Neko thought about it, looking over the field he watched as the sun started to fall casting an orange glow over Edena. “Does it not bother you if someone simply calls you dragon, or you a fur ball?”

‘All that bothers me is the relevance of the matter at hand at a particular moment in time, the way human minds work is nothing but a riddle, where one might predict a human will act will never understand the true reason behind that act.’

“And if anyone calls me a fur ball, I have claws and I’m not afraid to use them” Tabby hissed showing off her fangs and claws.

‘Tabby! Put your claws away, those tiny-little-stabby-pins hurt!’

“Oops!” Tabby stated teasingly, “I’m oh sorry o’fair dragon!”

Neko though, he burst out laughing, laughing so hard his stomach started to hurt. “A dragon so mighty as you Elqiana, scared of cat claws! Never thought I’d see that!”

Elqiana glared at Neko, and then with a smile she raised her paw pointing one of her huge curved talon-like claws close to his face, ‘Just remember little one, dragon claws are bigger, much bigger…’

Neko’s eyes opened wide as he saw her claw dangling close to his face, stifling his laughter and taking a deep breath, “Ok, ok you win, you win, I’ll stop laughing!”

In an attempt to distract himself, he looks at his hands, “Fajro!” A purple ball of fire appeared in his palm, contorting it into different shapes, “Why fire, why’d he teach fire first?”

“Fire is the easiest element, the easiest to be manipulated.” Tabby stated bluntly.

Nekon stroked his wolves. “Fire, Water, Thunder, and Air… I could choose any of those and have it be my favourite, my signature element… but which one?”

He stood up, and an image of a horse popped into his mind… “Tondro!” He clapped both of his hands together and slowly moved them apart, sparks flickered between his palms, the further he moved his palms away the steadier and sharper the thunder got, a few moments later there was a full-sized horse in front of him… made from thunder, but something wasn’t right.

‘Now that! Is impressive!’ Elqiana stated as she stretched head forward sniffing the thunder horse.

“That’s weird though” Nekonata murmured as he walked around his thunder horse. “Isn’t thunder supposed to be white? Or blue?” The thunder horse snickered and scraped its left hoof in the ground.

“Magic always takes the colour of one's aura, why that is so I don’t think anyone knows, but an aura is unique, there’d be no other like it, not ever.” Tabbyy commented admiring the thunder horse.

The sky darkened and rain started to pour heavily. Neko looked up into the sky distracted, when he looked back his thunder horse had disappeared. Elqiana stretched one of her wings around them protecting them from the rain, Tabby quickly jumped down, tucking herself under the dragon's wing and curled in the middle of Santaya and Kristolia to keep warm.

Kristolia went to lick the werecats head, Tabby changed into her human form and pushed the wolves snout away, “I don’t need a bath, thank you very much!”

Neko chuckled softly, “Thank you Elqiana for coming to talk to me.”

‘You are a curious one, interesting to watch, you’re not like the others I know, deep down in my core I feel a connection to, but it is hidden from me.’

“Everything feels so strange to me, so so strange.” Neko trailed off.

‘Patience is a form of wisdom. It demonstrates that we understand and accept the fact that sometimes things must unfold in their own time.’ Elqiana grumbled softly.

“Hmm…” Neko mumbled as he drifted off to sleep.
