As the hydra guarded the treasure covered tree Odysseus and his men split up and moved through the shadows between the trees , moments later a few of Odysseus's men sneaked behind the hydra and then threw their spears at it , the hydra hissed loudly and turned around and lunged towards the men , meanwhile as a few of the men distracted the hydra Odysseus and the remaining crewmen charged towards the hydra and attacked it taking it by surprise.
Odysseus jumped onto the hydra's back and swung his sword through the air and cut one of it's heads clean off , the hydra continued to attack the men as Odysseus cut another of it's heads off. Moments later the hydra's heads grew back and then Odysseus jumped off it's body and moved back , Odysseus ordered his men to put their swords into the fire pits that lay around the tree , they took turns putting their swords into the fire as the other men kept distracting the hydra.
Odysseus and his men's swords glowed bright orange as the heat covered the blades , Odysseus and his men climbed onto the hydra's back and swung and thrust their swords through the air and cut it's heads off one by one. The hydra hissed loudly with it's last remaining head , Odysseus men jumped off the hydra's back and moved away and watched as Odysseus continued to fight it , the hydra shook Odysseus off it's body and swung it's tail towards him and knocked him down onto the ground , they hydra lunged forward and but Odysseus's shoulder.
He screamed in agony as the hydra's venom burned through his veins , Odysseus's men charged in and attacked the hydra and cutting it's last head off and then watched as the hydra's body slumped down onto the ground. "Get the golden fleece quickly" said one of Odysseus's men , another man climbed up the large and almost lost his balance , his grip tightened as he held on then continued to climb up the tree.
The man had finally reached the branch where the golden fleece hung and carefully took it down , the man climbed back down the tree and handed the golden fleece to another man. He placed the golden fleece over Odysseus's body as his body twisted and turned in agony as the venom continued to burn inside him , moments later the golden fleece started to glow and Odysseus stopped moving.
Odysseus began to breathe properly again as the golden fleece healed him , the venom had been purged from his body and seconds later Odysseus stood up and held the golden fleece in his hands , "amazing" said Odysseus as he looked at the golden fleece. Odysseus carefully stored the golden fleece inside a sack and handed it to one of his crewmen , they rested for a short time before moving onwards , soon after Odysseus and his men travelled onwards deeper into the mysterious island...
