Odysseus's crew rowed harder as the ship sailed around the inside edge of the whirlpool , "row faster men" ordered Odysseus to his crew , his crew followed his orders and rowed faster as the wind blew fiercely and the rain hammered down. Odysseus walked towards the mast and moved the ships sail into the wind , the crew kept rowing hard then suddenly a large gust of wind blew against the sail , the crew steered the ship as the wind kept blowing against the sail , the ship slowly moved higher up the edge of the whirlpool and after a few minutes or so they had escaped the whirlpool and sailed onwards quickly so they wouldn't get pulled back into the whirlpool.
They sailed onwards then Odysseus said, "we should've seen land by now" , "we must've gone off course" said Athena, the ship sailed across the rough waves as the storm calmed down a little. Suddenly Athena saw a large island ahead of them , as they sailed closer towards the island a sea creature suddenly burst out of the waves and attacked the ship , the sea creature smashed into the ship making a large hole in the hull , the ship slowly started to sink as the crew rowed as fast as they could towards the island, the sea creature attacked again and smashed the ships mast and sail , "abandon ship" shouted Odysseus, Athena teleported herself onto the islands beach as Odysseus and his men jumped overboard into the sea.
Odysseus and his men braved the rough sea as they swam towards the island to safety, suddenly the sea creature rose above the waves , it's mouth wide open then caught one of Odysseus's crew and ate him alive, Odysseus made it to the beach and stood next to Athena and watched as his crewmen made it to the island safely one by one. "Where are we?" Said Odysseus and his crew , Athena looked around and said "we're on Crete" , Athena, , Odysseus and his crew walked across the rocky terrain as the storm continued, they saw lights up ahead of them and ran towards them.
They had reached city and and walked to the inn by the harbour and dried off and rested for a while, they ate some soup with bread and drank their wine as they talked about what they should do next. "First of all we need a new ship" said Odysseus, "we lost most of our supplies as well, so we'll need to buy more" said Athena , they went to their rooms and slept until the next morning , the next morning at sunrise Odysseus , Athena and his crew had breakfast and then walked towards the centre of the city to buy what they needed...
