Hercules: Part 22: The Storm

The Atlantean

Epic Legend
The next day...Hercules had said goodbye to Delphina and left Olympia behind him , he travelled onwards towards the north for a few days until he reached a canyon. In front of him was a long rope bridge , "hmm I hope that bridge is sturdy" thought Hercules , he held onto the rope bridge and started walking across it slowly , after walking only a few feet across the rope bridge a plank of wood snapped as he stood on it , Hercules gripped the ropes tight and kept his balance.

"Not as sturdy as I had hoped" thought Hercules , he continued to walk across the rope bridge carefully and slowly , suddenly the wind grew stronger as a storm headed his way. The rope bridge swayed in the wind as Hercules kept walking onwards across the rope bridge , rain started to fall heavily and made the planks a little slippery , moments later thunder rumbled and lightning flashed amongst the clouds.

The wind blew the rain into Hercules face , "I can't see in this rain" said Hercules as he carefully walked onwards , Hercules had crossed just over halfway across the bridge. Suddenly the lightning struck the rope bridge , "that was close, to close" said Hercules , he walked a little faster across the wet planks and then lightning struck the bridge again , suddenly the rope caught fire and started to burn , "uh oh , I'd better move faster" thought Hercules.

Hercules walked a little faster across the rope bridge then moments later one side of the rope had been burned through , the rope bridge tilted sideways a little and Hercules gripped onto the bridge tight. The lightning struck the rope bridge once more and severed it , the two halves of the rope bridge fell through the air and swung against the edges of the canyon , moments later Hercules slowly started to climb up his half of the rope bridge , Hercules godlike strength surged through his body as he gripped the planks and made his way up.

Hercules had finally made it to safety and sat down for a moment , a few minutes later Hercules stood up and travelled onwards through the storm , suddenly Hercules had a feeling that someone was following him. He reached for his sword slowly and then drew it and turned around and pointed his sword towards the shadows , "who are you , tell me" said Hercules , the figure standing in front of him lowered their hood and revealed them self to him , "oh it's you" said Hercules as he put his sword away , "hello Hercules" said Athena.

"Why were you following me" said Hercules , Athena told him that she wanted to join him on his journey , Hercules shook her hand and smiled and said "of course you can join me". Hercules and Athena walked across the rocky ground and towards the coast , Athena was completely dry in the storm as her powers shielded her from the rain , Hercules and Athena travelled onwards for a little longer until they had reached the coast , battered and broken shipwrecks lay amongst the reef and on the beach.

The shipwrecks torn sails moved in the wind and the wood creaked , moss and other plants covered the shipwrecks as the fish swam around the reef. Hercules and Athena walked across the beach and noticed one of the ships had crashed recently , it's mast was broken in half and had a hole in the hull , "hmm looks like the ship was attacked" said Athena as Hercules looked around for survivors , "over here , there are bodies everywhere" said Hercules.

Pools of fresh blood soaked the sand and a few severed limbs lay around the rocks , "what did this" said Athena as Hercules examined the area , moments later Hercules heard a groan. "A survivor" said Hercules as he and Athena rushed over towards the man , "what happened here" said Athena , "it was the...monster..." said the man as blood dripped out of his mouth , moments later a sharp pointed tail emerged out of the water , the man coughed and within moments died.

"The monster is still here" said Hercules as he and Athena drew their swords , suddenly the monster burst out of the waves and roared as the storm raged on. "A sea serpent" said Hercules as he and Athena prepared themselves , the sea serpent swung it's tail towards Hercules and Athena almost hitting them , "that was close" said Athena , the sea serpent swiped at them with it's long arm , it's pointed fins glimmered in the light as it's orange eyes glowed.

"Let us send this monster to the depths" said Hercules as he twirled his sword around in his hand , "this monster is no match for us" said Athena as her sword glowed gold. The sea serpent charged towards Hercules and Athena as they as they shouted their battle cry and prepared to attack...
