An explosion burst through the engineering area and suddenly the ship dropped out of light speed and started to drift , Vanessa and Sam ran down to the engineering area grabbing some fire extinguishers off the corridor wall. Moments later Sam and Vanessa began to put the fires out as they looked around for chief engineer Vox , "Vox where are you" shouted Vanessa as she put the last fire out and Sam searched the engineering area for any casualties.
"Over here" shouted Sam , Vanessa ran towards him and helped him move some debris out of the way , chief engineer Vox lay on the floor in a pool of blood. Suddenly Doctor Thorn rushed into the room with her equipment and assistants , the doctor's assistants helped the engineering team while she treated chief engineer Vox , "is he going to live?" Asked Vanessa as Doctor Thorn cleaned Vox's wounds , Doctor Thorn scanned his body and read the readings.
"His injuries are severe , there's nothing I can do" said Doctor Thorn , moments later Vox faded away as he breathed his final breath , "how are the other engineers?" Asked Sam. "Just small injuries , they'll recover soon enough" said the medic team as they started to transport the injured engineers to the medic area , Sam and Vanessa stood there as the medic team took Vox's body away to the medic area , "I'm sorry about your friend" said Doctor Thorn.
Four days later... The engineering team were back at work fixing the damage the explosion caused and removing the damaged light speed generator. Meanwhile on deck six , Sam , Vanessa and most of the crew mourned the loss of chief engineer Vox , they honoured his memory as they told stories about his time aboard the ship , an hour later Vox's coffin was placed in the airlock and sent out into space , the crew watched out of the window as his coffin floated away into the nearby nebula.
Later that day Sam and Vanessa walked down to the engineering area to see how the repairs were going , "we've just about finished the repairs" said engineer Yamada , "good work everyone , chief engineer Vox would be proud" said Vanessa. A few minutes later the engines and the warp core were up and running again , Sam and Vanessa had arrived back in the bridge and sat in their chairs as they prepared to test the engines.
"Ok Ilya increase our speed" said Vanessa , moments later the ship started to increase speed as Ilya steered the ship carefully , within a matter of minutes the ship was back to full speed. "Active the warp drive" said Sam , Ilya pressed her controls and started the warp drive , suddenly the ship burst through space at maximum warp speed as the crew held on just in case something would go wrong , "deactivate warp speed" said Vanessa , the ship slowed down and continued to fly at regular engine speed.
"Good work everyone , engines and warp core are in perfect working order" said Vanessa , "how far did the light speed generator bring us" asked Ilya. "Oh no...." Said Emilia , "what's wrong" said Vanessa , "somehow the lights speed generator stranded us at the edge of the universe" said Emilia , the crew sat in silence as they realised that they were stuck at the edge of the universe and would never reach home , "don't worry everyone , we still have hope of reaching home" said Vanessa.
"She's right , there's many strange new worlds to explore and new civilizations to meet out there , I'm sure we will find something to help us reach home" said Sam. The crew stayed silent for a few moments and then smiled , "let's go explore as many as we can" said Ilya , moments later the ship flew at top speed as they headed to their next destination...
