I realized I had no special place anywhere. Every bond I formed broke pieces of my heart… yet those cracks, those pains, shaped me into a stronger, wiser, and more resilient person.
I realised that niceness is often transactional. A lot of people are warm, attentive, and kind when they want something from you. If you mistake that for genuine care, you end up over-giving, over-trusting, and feeling regret afterwards.
I learned the hard way not to be naïve about intentions. That doesn’t mean becoming cruel or manipulative—but it means being strategic. Stop playing the role of the endlessly understanding one. Read patterns. Protect your leverage. Don’t give loyalty where there’s only convenience.
It may sound harsh, even borderline psychotic, but what’s truly exhausting is watching people benefit from your goodwill while you’re left drained and questioning yourself. Growth sometimes looks like refusing to be the easy option anymore.
I don’t regret learning this. It taught me discernment, self-respect, and the ability to engage with the world as it is—not as I wish it were
